In a press conference today at 3PM, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Dr. Mandy Cohen showed graphs and data on cases, hospitalizations, and trends.

Overall, the trends show an increase in cases and hospitalizations across the state. Although the hospitalizations are increasing, Dr. Cohen says the state still has the hospital space and resources to take in the patients. She added that the scientific evidence is compelling that face masks work as long as everyone wears them.

After Dr. Cohen went through statistics, Governor Cooper spoke and said, "I'm concerned" about the trends. He then announced that phase 2 will continue for another 3 weeks. He also announced that face coverings are required for all employees and customers in businesses and restaurants. He said, "We are adding this new requirement so that we don't go backward." And that, "Face coverings are a simple way to control this virus."

The restrictions are set to end 3 weeks from this Friday.
