The Town of Beech Mountain has launched a website to keep the public informed of plans for a new water intake.

High Country Press reports the site is designed to provide information on the project as well as allow the public to ask questions and make comments by contacting the town directly.

The town's plan is to bring water in from the Watauga River in a low volume draw that would only be for approximately 60 days a year, during a drought or failure of the town's current system. It would be a supplemental secondary source of water for the town.

The website is and will have current news regarding the project as well as project updates, events, and ways to conserve water.
