There were no new COVID-19 tests collected Friday by AppHealthCare for Watauga County.

AppHealthCare has collected 75 tests total for Watauga, with 196 tests collected from outside agencies. There are 8 confirmed cases in Watauga as of Friday.

In Ashe county, no new tests Friday, five collected in Ashe, and 51 have been collected from outside agencies and reported to AppHealCare, with 4 positive cases in Ashe.

In Alleghany, no new tests on Friday, 8 tests collected, and 17 done by outside agencies and reported to AppHealthCare, with 2 positive cases in Alleghany County. 

The Mitchell County, NC Health Department, part of Toe River Health District, was notified Thursday, April 16th of another positive case of COVID-19. High Country Press reports the individual is in isolation. It's the fifth confirmed COVID-19 case in Mitchell County. Public health officials are identifying close contacts to contain the spread of disease.

As of Thursday April 16, Avery and Yancey counties, also a part of the Toe River Health District, still had no confirmed cases of the virus, two of only seven counties in the state with no cases.
