Coronavirus has many people concerned, and there have been reports that many events have been cancelled due to those concerns.

The Wilkes Journal Patriot reports Ted Hagaman, MerleFest director, says they have been monitoring this since day one and will continue to do so, and the MerleFest 2020 plan at the present is to stay the course.

The festival is planning additional public health measures for the four day event, April 23-26.

Some of those measures include tripling the number of hand wash locations across the festival grounds and enhancing custodial and maintenance personnel to continually wipe down door handles, bathrooms and water fountains, using cleaning chemicals approved by the CDC.

Hagaman said officials will continue to follow guidance from the CDC as well as state and local health officials, and will be in touch with ticket holders and fans by email, website and social media should anything change.
