There were several fires local departments responded to over the weekend.

As reported previously, an outbuilding was destroyed in the Stony Fork area of Deep Gap Friday night.

A brush fire along the escarpment between Blowing Rock and Lenoir was extinguished Friday afternoon. The Watauga Democrat reports Blowing Rock Fire Chief Kent Graham said the call came just before 5 pm Friday at 5117 Blowing Rock Boulevard, near the intersection with Falcon Crest Road. According to Graham, the fire burned three to four acres and threatened one nearby structure, but there was no damage reported.

There was a house fire on Sunday morning in Todd. According to the report, the fire call was around 8:30 Sunday morning at 9885 Highway 194 North. There was extensive damage to the house, estimated at $150,000, but Watauga County Fire Marshal Taylor Marsh said the homeowner got out of the house and there were no injuries.

The causes of the fires are still under investigation.
