Authorities believe human remains found in Sullivan County, Tenn., Friday evening are those of Evelyn Mae Boswell, a toddler from Blountville, Tenn., who was the subject of a search in northeastern Wilkes County last week.

The Wilkes Journal Patriot reports Sheriff Jeff Cassidy of Sullivan County, Tennessee said in a press conference late Friday night in Blountville that information received led to the discovery of the remains on Muddy Creek Road, on property owned by a relative of Megan Boswell, the child's mother.

Evelyn Boswell was last seen in December, but was not reported missing until February.

Megan Boswell is still in the Sullivan County Jail on $25,000 bond after being charged with filing a false report by the Sullivan Sheriff’s Office. Cassidy earlier said Megan was charged because she made conflicting statements to officers investigating Evelyn’s disappearance that delayed and impeded the investigation.

Angela Boswell and William McCloud, of Bristol, were taken into custody by two Wilkes Sheriff’s Office detectives who stopped the 2007 BMW they were traveling in on North Lomax Road the morning of February 20.

Sheriff Cassidy said the investigation is in the very early stages, and an autopsy will be done for a positive identification.
