The 31st annual Blue Ridge Brutal bike ride this summer will be organized and held by the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce.

The Ashe Post and Times reports in past years, the event was organized by and raised funds for the Ashe Civic Center.

According to the report, the Chamber plans to apply all funds raised to the Ashe Advantage Project, its scholarship program for ACHS seniors.

The event will take place August 22 with rides of 56, 72 and 100 miles, and all of those options include scenic stretches on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Kitty Honeycutt, executive director at the Chamber, said the economic impact of last year’s ride was approximately $82,000 spent by visiting riders in area restaurants and businesses.
