Boone Police have arrested a man in connection with a fire at an unoccupied house in Boone.
A fire December 26 at 651 Old East King Street was investigated by Boone Police and Boone Fire Department and it was determined someone set multiple fires in the structure.
This structure had been vacant for the last four years and was a common area for homeless individuals to be found sleeping and taking shelter from the weather.
After a joint investigation, Bobby Allen Pennington, 41, of Ashe County was named the primary suspect.
Pennington was located in custody of the Ashe County Detention Center on a parole violation of Burning of Personal Property and Calling in a False Bomb Report on a Public Building.
Pennington has been charged with one count of felony Burning an Uninhabited House, and one count of misdemeanor Breaking and Entering and was issued a court date of February 14. He's being held under a $30,000 secured bond.
