An inmate that escaped from a Wilkes County jail was recaptured in Ashe County.
The Ashe Post and Times reports Roger W. Hawkins escaped from the Wilkes County Department of Corrections Friday December 27.
According to the report, the Ashe County Sheriff's Department was notified because the inmate had ties to Ashe County.
The Jefferson and West Jefferson Police Departments and ACSO were able to spot a vehicle during the early hours of December 28 and stopped it around 2:30 am.
Hawkins and another individual were in the vehicle.
The driver and owner of the vehicle, Jessica M. Blackburn, was arrested and charged with Felony Harboring an Escapee. She was taken to the Ashe County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond.
Hawkins was placed in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Corrections.
