The Watauga County Board of Education has extended the testing period on the Valle Crucis property intended for the new Valle Crucis school.

According to the Watauga Democrat, the county will continue to test for suitability of the so-called Hodges property through March 16th of 2020.

Watauga Schools Superintendent Scott Elliott said the extension will allow for additional testing of soils related to the placement of the sewer system for the school.

The contract extension now states closing in 30 days of the examination period and requests $10,000 from the board, that is non-refunable but will be credited to the purchase at time of closing.
