After the seemingly sudden change from a warm October to a quite chilly November, two area ski resorts took advantage of the below freezing temperatures and began snow making operations this past weekend.
Sugar Mountain began snow making Thursday night after the front passed through the area with an idea of opening up for skiing on Sunday, but was not able to. According to SkiSugar.com, they will continue to make snow as conditions permit and will open as soon as possible.
Beech Mountain Resort also began snow making over the weekend, and as of now, the plan is to open for the season on November 23rd.
The weather forecast shows overnight temperatures moderating somewhat through this week, with a chance of rain Thursday, but then the below freezing overnight temperatures return for the weekend.
