The 41st Annual Woolly Worm Festival was held this past weekend in Banner Elk and the winning worm was Wild Worm Will owned by Leslee Brown, Wilmington, NC.

Lesley took home the top prize money and her worm was read by Tommy Burleson to determine this winter's forecast.

According to Wild Worm Will, the first Two Weeks will be Above Average-Snow +1 inch

Two Weeks: Below Average temperatures with Light Snow/Frost

One Week: Above Average-Snow +1 inch

Two Weeks: Above Average

Four Weeks: Average temperatures

One Week: Below-Average Light Snow/Frost

Two Weeks: Above Average. The average temperature is predicted to be 27 degrees.

The Woolly Worm Festival draws thousands to Banner Elk each October and is a big fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Banner Elk and the Avery County Chamber of Commerce to enhance area schools, children's programs and promoting business and tourism in Avery County.
