The Watauga County Commissioners decided Tuesday to table proposed changes to the ordinance that would address the construction of schools in the historic district of Valle Crucis.

High Country Press reports a number of speakers both in opposition to and in support of the changes got to speak at the meeting, and after the public comment, commissioners decided to table any changes.

The changes to the ordinance would exempt the school building from meeting certain standards in the community, such as building height, placement and zoning.

The ordinance change will be taken up again at the Commissioner's next meeting November 6th.
