The man accused of felony hit-and-run after fatally hitting a cyclist October 10th in Caldwell County, has been located and arrested.

The Watauga Democrat reports the cyclist, 61 year old Ignacio Giraldo of Florida was riding with a group on US 221, when he was struck by a gray van near Grandfather Mountain.

Giraldo died from the injuries two days later.

Following the incident, NC State Highway Patrol identified the driver of the van as Charles Steward Bean of Creedmoor, and he was arrested at his home.

Bean is being held at the Granville County Detention Center under a $35,000 bond, and additional charges are pending. 

 

UPDATE 10/17:

Charles Steward Bean is now being held at the Caldwell County Jail under a $35,000 bond, with his first court appearance Monday.
