An 18-month old toddler was found around 2,000 feet from her home, 2 hours after being reported missing.

The Watauga Democrat reports the little girl had followed two dogs out of the basement door of her home that had been accidentally left open.

Watauga County Fire Marshal's Office, Watauga County Sheriff's Office, Boone Fire and Watauga Medics all responded to the call at 1:30pm on October 5th, and a Watauga County Sheriff's Deputy found the toddler in a field after hearing her cries.

The girl was taken to the Watauga Medical Center by Watauga Medics for evaluation, after being found wet and cold from the rain.

The child was released with no serious injuries, and no charges have been issued.
