Be a part of the world's largest earthquake drill, called the Great Southeast Shakeout this coming Thursday, October 17th at 10:17am.

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, over 2.1 million people in the southeast have registered their organization, school, agency, business or family to participate in the "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" earthquake drill.

North Carolina is not known for earthquakes, but it is important to practice for if they do happen, or if you travel somewhere that experiences an earthquake. A portion of Western North Carolina falls into the Eastern Tennessee seismic zone, which is an active area.
