Ashe County Schools has been selected to received $842,586 in grant funding for mental health services.

According to AsheSchools.org, the grant is for the Rural School Mental Health Training and Service Provision in North Carolina, a Federal Department of Education grant.

The full value of the grant is $2.5 million, and will be divided between Ashe County Schools, Appalachian State University, and RTI International over 5 years.

Ashe County Schools will oversee the program as a whole, and place interns from Appalachian State University's Psychology Department at the individual Ashe County Schools.

RTI International will collect data from the program, and give guided direction for how to best implement the services.
