October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, community fundraising events continue this week. 

This Friday, October 11th Back by popular demand, Appalachian Regional Healthcare System will host its 16th annual Pink Day celebration at both Watauga Medical Center and Cannon Memorial Hospital. Participants are encouraged to wear pink, purchase raffle tickets, schedule a mammogram, and hear remarks from a breast cancer survivor. Light refreshments will be provided.


This Saturday, October 12th, a fundraiser called Kilograms for Mammograms will celebrate survivors and help remove the cost barrier for those in need of a mammogram. All proceeds will go to the Wilma Redmond Mammography Fund. It will be at ARHS's Wellness Center, located at 232 Boone Heights Drive in Boone.
