Interest rates have dropped recently and because of that, there is an opportunity for Watauga County to save some money by refinancing the debt on Watauga High School.

According to County Manager Deron Geouque, the county can save roughly $852,000 dollars over the course of the loan.

Geouque emphasized that the term will not change, only the interest rate.

The Watauga County Commissioners will hold a required public hearing on the refinancing Tuesday morning September 3rd at 8:30 in the Commissioners' Board Room of the Watauga County Administration Building, 814 West King Street, Boone.

All interested parties are invited to present comments at the public hearing regarding the refinancing of the Project.
