Tourist spending in Ashe County was up last year.

The Ashe Post and Times reports tourists spent $60.73 million January to December of 2018.

Those numbers come from the Ashe County Economic Development office.

That's a bit more than a five percent increase over 2017.

According to the report, annual tourism spending in Ashe has increased by more than $18.5 million dollars since 2010.

The tourism data was collected as part of a study called “The Economic Impact of Travel on North Carolina Counties,” prepared for Visit North Carolina by the U.S. Travel Association.
