Appalachian State University's Board of Trustees approved a resolution that will allow the university to seek permits to sell alcohol at athletics facilities.

Appalachian Today reports Governor Roy Cooper signed NC House Bill 389 into law on June 26, which allows public universities to sell beer and wine at athletics facilities.

The resolution included seeking permits for Kidd Brewer Stadium, Varsity Gym, Jim Jim & Bettie Smith Stadium, Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium, Holmes Convocation Center, Appalachian 105, The Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field and the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

In the same meeting, the board approved the demolition of the 67-year-old building Justice Residence Hall, scheduled for Summer 2020.
