An autopsy report in the death of a man in an officer involved shooting March 30th has been released.

The Watauga Democrat reports the autopsy shows Andrew John Mason, age 22, died as a result of a single gunshot to abdomen in an incident on Hardin Road.

The report also indicated Mason showed signs of multiple blunt force injuries to the head, abdomen and extremities.

The toxicology report did not detect any traces of opiates, acids, ethanol or cocaine metabolite.

According to the report, District Attorney Seth Banks said he will make a determination in the case as soon as possible, and said there is body cam footage of the incident.

Watauga County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Gragg shot Mason after responding March 30th to 911 calls about an attempted break in by a man banging on the door at 2145 Hardin Road and screaming.

Watauga Sheriff Len Hagaman said there was a violent struggle as Mason attempted to take Deputy Gragg's gun.
