The Ashe County Board of Education discussed its 2019-2020 budget at a special meeting Tuesday, July 2.

The Ashe Post and Times reports the current expense and capital outlay budgets total more than $754,000 dollars.

The budget reflects more than $501,000 for repairs in various schools, including new floors at Ashe High School and Westwood Elementary, new LED lighting at Westwood, new front entrance windows at Blue Ridge Elementary, replace the air conditioning at Central Support Services, and repair of door keypads at all schools, as well as a number of other projects across the school system.

There is also $225,000 for an increase in employee health insurance.

The Board will meet again Monday, August 5.
