Three North Carolina airports, including the Wilkes County Airport, will receive 3.5 million dollars in grants to improve safety.

The NCDOT reports that this funding will go towards improving the taxiways which will upgrade safety for pilots and their aircrafts.

This will also allow for larger aircrafts to land at the Wilkes County Airport.

The grants will go towards expansions at the Elkin Municipal Airport and rehabilitation at the Michael J Smith in Beaufort.
