The Watauga County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase of the Valle Landing property in Valle Crucis.

The Watauga Democrat reports the $375,000 purchase will close in November.

According to the report, the purchase was made with the idea that the property could be used as a back-up plan for the new Valle Crucis School, if there happens to be any problems with that current property.

If the Valle Landing property is not needed for the new school, the commissioners said it could be used for a number of other things, such as parking for Valle Crucis Park and Mast General Store.

The new Valle Crucis School property is in good standing so far, and plans are continuing to move forward to build the school on that site.
