Pedestrian crosswalks will be added to the intersection of Appalachian Street and West King Street in Boone.

The Watauga Democrat reports the Boone Public Works Department will start work Monday May 13th and construction will take about four to five weeks to complete.

According to the report, pedestrian signals will go across all three ways of the intersection, and sidewalks will bulb out closer to the road so divers can better see pedestrians.

Appalachian Street will be closed at times while work takes place, but West King Street will remain open.
