The Hunger and Health Coalition has started its new food drive program called "A Simple Gesture."
The Watauga Democrat reports the program launch on April 27th brought in more than 10,000 pounds of food for the organization's food pantry.
According to the report, A Simple Gesture has food donors pick up an extra item every time they visit the grocery store. The donor then sets the items aside in a special bag to be picked up by volunteer drivers on a bi-monthly basis.
The next pickup date is set for June 22nd.
