Avery County High School will soon start selling diet sodas during lunch.

The Avery Journal Times reports diet drinks are allowed under current regulation, and the Avery County Board of Education also gave its approval.

According to the report, Avery County Schools’ Child Nutrition Director Tammy Woodie said the drinks could bring an extra $5,000 in profits, which could help with nutrition programs in schools.

Woodie also said she hopes the drinks will draw students interest back to school lunches.

The diet sodas will only be available at the high school.
