Sheets Bridge in Jefferson, near the intersection of N.C. 16 and N.C. 88, is currently under construction for improvements.

The Ashe Post and Times reports the North Carolina Department of Transportation is working to remove the existing surface and replace it with modified concrete. While work is being done, there will be a temporary stop light in place.

According to the report, repairs are also being made to the substructure of the bridge. River access will be closed off at Bill Bledsoe Road underneath the bridge.

All improvements and repairs are expected to be finished by mid-July.
