The Town of Beech Mountain is working on a new park area at Buckeye Lake called Shane Outpost.

There will be low ropes courses, primitive campsites, bathrooms and showers, picnic areas and shelters and an outdoor amphitheater.

The project is estimated to cost $900,000 and will be completed in three phases starting this spring.

The town has raised $70,000 so far, but is asking the community to consider making a pledge to contribute to the project.

Anyone who donates $1,000 or more will receive two commercial Shane Outpost khaki shirts and your business name will appear on a permanent on-site tree of giving. Naming opportunities for various park amenities are also available for donations of $5,000 to $100,000.
