A Boone woman was sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in prison for a major sex offense.

On January 31st, 23-year-old Elizabeth Ann Sanders was convicted by a Watauga County jury of felony Statutory Sexual Offense with a Child by an Adult.

The child victim was a female, and she reported the sexual abuse to her therapist in late 2017.

A forensic interview with the victim revealed that Sanders was her babysitter and the abuse occurred every time Sanders watched the victim.

Sanders only admitted to law enforcement that she violated the minor on one occasion.

Judge Marvin Pope issued Sanders an active sentence of 25 to 31 years in prison.
