The Boone Police Department had its most successful Holiday Food and Funds Drive this year.

The Watauga Democrat reports the sixth annual drive raised over $800 and over 460 pounds of food for the Hunger and Health Coalition.

According to the report, an anonymous donor also agreed to match the $800 raised during the drive.

The Hunger and Health Coalition can buy $5 worth of food for $1 at local food banks, so the organization will be able to buy over $8,000 of food with the money raised from the drive.
