Watauga County Schools has two new school resource officers.

The Watauga Democrat reports officers Paul Scott and Dustin Kerley started serving Watauga’s elementary schools on January 2nd.

According to the report, Scott and Kerley will join officer Seth Morrison who has served as Watauga’s rotating SRO at each elementary school for the past year.

The new plan is to have Morrison at Hardin Park and Valle Crucis, Scott at Bethel, Mabel and Cove Creek and Kerley at Green Valley and Parkway.

Each officer will also review and update school safety plans, assist school counselors and teach the DARE program to fifth graders.

Watauga County Schools now has five SROs in total, with officer Andrew Absher working at Watauga High School and officer Lance Dotson working at Blowing Rock School.
