Flash Flood Watches continue across the High Country.

The Flash Flood Watch continues in effect for Ashe, Alleghany, Watauga and Wilkes Counties until 8pm Wednesday night.

A Flash Flood Watch continues for Avery, Mitchell, Yancey Counties and further south until 8 am Thursday morning.

The broad circulation around the remnants of Alberto will continue to pump tropical moisture into the region today. Higher rainfall rates from showers and embedded thunderstorms are possible especially this afternoon and evening. The resulting heavy rainfall will impact many locations with already saturated ground.

Rainfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches in spots with locally higher amounts possible. This will heighten the risk of flash flooding.
