West Jefferson Aldermen have awarded the water and sewer improvement contracts to Carolina Grading and Utilities.

The Ashe Post and Times reports the contract totals $1,352,925 dollars and the vote was unanimous.

The project includes A sludge dewatering facility at the town water plant, A new well and water lines, New water and sewer lines on Mount Jefferson Road and Vannoy Drive.

According to the report, the town has loans in the amounts of $380,000 dollars and $501,925 with the USDA, and received a $300,000 for the project.

The remainder will be funded from the town's budget.
