The Ashe County Planning Board will hold a public hearing to get input on county development ordinances their impact on development, public safety, flooding and the New River.

The Ashe Post and Times reports the hearing will be Thursday, June 7, at 5:30 p.m., in the Ashe County Courthouse, third floor small courtroom.

Before the hearing, staff and board members will be available to answer questions, and copies of current ordinances will be available as well as flood maps.

Much of the area around the New River and its tributaries is located inside the special flood hazard area.

The planning board is interested in hearing from realtors, builders and those that are passionate about the river.
