The Ashe County Manager Sam Yearick has been placed on administrative leave by the Board of Commissioners.

The Ashe Post and Times reports Yearick was placed on leave with pay effective immediately.

According to the report, Commissioners voted 3-1 to take the action, and that Yearick was not told the reason he has been placed on administrative leave.

The report indicates that Yearick was scheduled for a performance review May 21st, and that a confidential survey among county department heads had been conducted.

According to the report, Yearick asked commissioners if he was under any sort of legal investigation, and Commissioner Todd McNeill said that was not the case.

Yearick has six months remaining on his contract.
