At the May 10th budget workshop held by the Avery County Commissioners, payroll was one of the topics of discussion.

The Avery Journal reports Commissioners heard from Piedmont Triad Regional Council’s David Hill, who presented a pay and classification study for Avery, who recommended a pay raise for county employees to bring them into line with that of nearby counties.

The study indicated that average length of employment in the county was 11 years, which according to Hill is above average.

Another recommendation was to change employment policies to be fairer across the board.
