Blowing Rock’s budget workshop last week addressed a number of issues including sewers and sidewalks and interest payments.

Blowing Rock News reports the recommended budget also includes $100,000 to begin water and sewer plant improvements, in a project that will ultimately cost over a million dollars.

The proposed budget also has recommendations for sidewalks on Park Avenue to be redone to include a curb and gutters, and to address sidewalks that do not conform to the Americans With Disabilities Act.

According to the report, the proposed budget requires no appropriation of monies from the General Fund, includes a cost of living adjustment for town employees, funds for an additional School Resource Officer for Blowing Rock School, and increases for water and sewer.

The recommended budget also includes monies for the Middle Fork Greenway, the Moses Cone Estate, Memorial Park improvements and a downtown shuttle trial with AppalCART.

Blowing Rock Town Council will hold a budget work session on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall located at 1036 Main Street, Blowing Rock N.C.
