The Town of Boone has posted notice concerning system development fees.

North Carolina General Statute 132A Article 8 provides for the uniform authority to implement system development fees for public water and wastewater systems in North Carolina, and was recently passed by the North Carolina General Assembly and signed into law on July 20,2017.

According to this statute, system development fees must be adopted in accordance with the conditions and limitations of Article 8 and must conform to the requirements set forth in the Article no later than July 1,2018.

At the request of the Town of Boone, Raftelis Financial Consultants have completed an evaluation to develop cost-justified water and wastewater system development fees for consideration. A copy of the evaluation may be viewed by visiting

Boone Town Council and the Town Manager seek community input involving the implementation of water and wastewater development fees. Comments may be submitted until 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 by clicking visiting, or by mail to the Town of Boone c/o John Ward, Town Manager Post Office Box 192 Boone, NC 28607.

After the public comment period has expired there will be a Public Hearing and consideration for the adoption of fees at the June 19, 2018 regular Town Council meeting.
