Lightning is responsible for a structure fire in Ashe County Tuesday.

The Ashe Post and Times reports an outbuilding on the property at 1711 Bart Hurley Road in Lansing caught fire after it was struck by lightning about 4:45 Tuesday afternoon. 

New River, Lansing and Jefferson Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the fire, and prevented the blaze from spreading to another nearby structure that reportedly was being used to store gunpowder.

According to the report Lansing Fire Chief Jeff Venable said the outbuilding was destroyed and there were no injuries reported.
