Blowing Rock Town Council members heard a citizen request for an extension of water and sewer service to his home during Tuesday's meeting.

According to the Blowing Rock News, that request was denied primarily because the town does not have a long range plan for extending sewer service to the more than 300 parcels within the municipal limits that currently are not served by the town's sewer system.

According to the report, Town Manager Ed Evans said that because many homes are at a high elevation and sit on a lot of rock, installation of sewer infrastructure is more expensive.

The board approved a study on the matter.

Town Council will hold a special budget workshop meeting on Friday, May 18th, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
