Power outages Sunday night were caused by a squirrel.

Watauga Online reports a squirrel and a blown resistor caused parts of Foscoe, Valle Crucis and areas along Highway 105 to go dark Sunday.

The first outage was around 7:47 and lasted a little more than an hour, effecting around 11 Blue Ridge Energy members on Highway 105 near the entrance to Adam's Apple. According to the report, a squirrel was responsible for the outage.

There was a second event in the same area just a little later, around 7:53 and also went a little more than an hour.

According to the report, a blown arrestor was responsible for a power blink affecting more than 3000 members around 10:30 Sunday night.
