Last week's loss of 911 services to Ashe County was the result of a CenturyLink Fiber-optic line that broke in Surry County.

The Ashe Post and Times reports Ashe Communications Director Brian Greer said the cause was not known, but the line was buried 15-16 feet below the surface and that it was an extensive repair.

As a result of the break, emergency 911 call services were disrupted for Surry, Wilkes and Ashe Counties.

According to the report, Greer did not believe any calls were missed during the problem, but that if anyone called for assistance and didn't receive it, to report it at (336) 846-5521.
