A number of government meetings are set for this week.

Watauga County Board of Education, May 14, 6 p.m., 175 Pioneer Trail, Boone

Watauga County Board of Commissioners, May 15, 5:30 p.m., 814 W. King St., Boone. Part of the meeting will be a public hearing on the proposed 2018-19 fiscal year budget for Watauga County . The proposed budget includes increases for the Appalachian Regional Library, the Appalachian District Health Department, as well as funds from last year's property tax increase that are targeted for county schools capital needs and the new community recreation center. You can view the proposed budget at the county manager's office in the Administration Building, or at the public libraries in Boone, Blowing Rock and the Western Watauga Community Center. Boone Town Council, May 15, 6 p.m. and May 17, 1500 Blowing Rock Road, Boone. Among items on the agenda are renewal of DBDA Agreement, Request to Reduce the Frequency of Public Hearings, Consideration of Amendment to the UDO to Create Standards for Hotels, and Proposed Ordinance Language concerning  Bicycles, Skateboards, Inline Skates and similar wheeled vehicles on Town sidewalks and in Town park areas.

The Rural Transportation Coordinating Committee (RTCC) and Rural Transportation Advisory Committee (RTAC) of the High Country RPO will hold a meeting on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the High Country Council of Governments building located at 468 New Market Blvd., Boone, NC 28607. The RTCC will meet at 10:00 AM and the RTAC will meet at 2:00 PM. A public hearing for the RPO Prioritization 5.0 Priority Needs List and the FY 18-19 Planning Work Program will be held during the RTAC meeting. The meetings are open to the public.
