JBS USA, Inc. of Lenoir is recalling approximately 35,464 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically hard plastic.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says the raw ground beef items were produced on March 22nd.

Various types of Kroger GROUND BEEF, PRIVATE SELECTION ANGUS BEEF, ALL NATURAL LAURA’S LEAN BEEF, JBS Ground Beef Angus Chuck and Angus Sirloin products are part of the recall.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 34176” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered after the firm received a complaint from a consumer who found blue, hard plastic pieces in one of the products.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them.

These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
