An accident Friday afternoon on Highway 105 near Tynecastle involved three vehicles and tied up traffic for several hours.

The Watauga Democrat reports it happened around 5:15 Friday afternoon. Sommer Trivette of Newland was headed toward Avery County in a Honda van and went left of center to pass a truck in a no-passing zone and struck Kimberly Noble of Boone in the rear on the driver's side, causing it to go off the road and overturn.

Trivette then collided head-on with David Wiseman of Spruce Pine.

According to the report, Wiseman was airlifted to Johnson City with serious but non-life threatening injuries, Trivette was taken by ambulance to Watauga Medical Center. Noble was not transported.

According to the report, State Highway Patrol Trooper M.A. Fleming said Trivette was cited with reckless driving and speeding.
