The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce hosted Coffee, Cake and Candidates Monday evening at F.A.R.M. Cafe, with candidates in contested races in the upcoming Primary.

Among those races is the Republican and Democratic candidates for the US House of Representatives from District 5. Each candidate had an opportunity to make a statement and answer questions. Among other topics, incumbent Republican Virginia Foxx and Republican Challenger Dillon Gentry addressed the recent tax cut legislation.

Democratic candidate Jenny Marshall discussed economic and healthcare issues, among other things. Democratic DD Adams was delayed by weather Monday, and missed out on the question and answer session, but was given time to introduce herself to the audience.

Candidates from other races, including Watauga County Commissioners District 5 and Watauga County Sheriff were also on hand. High Country Radio News will offer highlights from the candidates in the contested races in the coming days. The entire forum is available to stream online at http://boonechamber.com/.
