The Ashe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit and run involving a North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper.

The Ashe Post and Times reports the State Trooper was struck while picking up debris at the intersection of Idlewild Road and Calloway Gap Road in the Obids community of Ashe County.

Officials are searching for an older model red Nissan truck with damage to the passenger side.

According to the report, the Sheriff's office said the trooper suffered minor injuries from the incident, but is okay.
