The 25th anniversary of the Blizzard of 93 saw lots of snow in the High Country.

The National Weather Service snow accumulation map for March 12th and 13th, the first snow event of the week, shows accumulations ranging from 3 to 8 inches across the region, and reports on social media indicated anywhere from a dusting to as much as 8 more inches fell on Wednesday.

The first event brought power outages to a number of areas, and slick roads made travel difficult for many over several days.

Area schools missed three days this week as a result of the snow, and the Watauga County Board of Education is expected to announce changes in the school calendar after their Thursday night meeting - originally scheduled for Monday, but snowed out.
